USEP IC INTERPERSONAL SKILLS 2010

With the Theme…

Cut the difference, wind up the knot, meet and gain more FRIENDS

From the seminar called itself Interpersonal Skills –the Interpersonal word lies on the definition of “relationship between two people” and skills as the ability to do something well. Interpersonal itself concerns more on involving creation of relationship between people – it does not mean of making relationship with one another but rather to create and build relationship between humanity in which enabling a person to generate communication with others. Through interpersonal skills, people can now easily be with others and don’t feel uneasy to have conversation to others.

I myself experienced interpersonal skills seminars last July 21,2010 which I will never never be forget. From there I learned to make friendship with others, my eyes are opened to know things that might happen to my journey of this earthy life.

The once held seminar had provided flock of speakers to share some instances and importance of life such as ways of interactions in many ways, nature and needs to develop interpersonal skills and learning to trust and understand by Ms. Joey – the USEP Institute of Computing Guidance Councilor.

Tackled in the seminar are the topics of:
  • Meaning of Interpersonal Skills including the Communication Skills, Assertiveness and Conflict Resolution.
  • Creating atmosphere for instances of Trust, Respect and Understanding.
  • Important Things About Interpersonal Skills such as Reduce Stress, Reduce Conflict and Improve Communication.
  • Even Effective Strategies in improving listening skills
  • Meaning of Communication, etc.

From the given topics discussed that day, it is indeed very obvious that the main idea of having an interpersonal skills to make the students ready to face the real world after school, to enhance effective communication with others and teaching how to build a relationship skills. The seminar is conducted half of the day and the other half is for the Team Building Skills hosted by the CCC (Campus Crusade for Christ). We played, learned and enjoyed every each game we had in the tem building. Different games I had knew with new faces I’ve met to be my group mate with the team building theme of All people are born and made to be a leader”.

The CCC provided each group leader from their ministry to take the responsibility of conducting games to us. Listed below are the games we’ve played that day.

TRUST FALL
The trust fall game tests the persons trust to other in terms of many things even if on his life. In this game, all are lines to fall and to be catch by other group mate. Individuals are given a chance to experience the feeling of falling regardless of bodily heaviness. One person is assign to fall from the stage to the hands of its group mate. The communication of the group can only be understood by four phrases.
“Are you Ready ?” …. To be said by the one who will assign to fall.
“Ready!!” ….. Expected to be the reply of the persons who will going to catch the falling one.
“Catch me I’m Falling!!” the trusting words by the one who will fall..
      And
“FALL!!”the end of the agreement between the to positions which will give a sign to the who will fall that she/he can now make the falling session and also the sign that everyone that assigned to catch are ready.
The game was all about TRUST in trusting your team mates that they will catch you whether you’re thin or fat. The only key to this game is the wholeheartedly trust that your teammate will never let you fall on the ground and be hurt.

BLAMING HOOP
It seems hoop is just a simple playing tool yet in this game it does serves as the measurement tool for measuring the unity of the team. Only every single teammate pointing hand is allowed to touch the hoop. The objective of the game is to bring down the hoop on the ground. At first it feels like its very easy but without knowing I can say proven and tested that I was the hardest game I ever done in the teammate.

BUILD ME
The build me game meets the objective of hang the 11 nails with the used of only 1 nail as its center point foundation. The game was to tests the open mindedness of each mate and the leadership also. And last but not the list is the...

SPIDER WEB
The spider web adheres to create a unity and trust to the teammate. The criteria of the game are to enable the team to go inside of the other side of the game place with the use of tire wires as the division of each side. The tire wires placed in the game-placed must not be touch by anybody. Every single touch of the tire wires will have corresponding punishment.

After the whole tiring day of the Interpersonal Skills Seminar, at last each of us met the theme Cut the difference, wind up the knot, meet and gain more FRIENDS”.

WE LEARNED…WE ALREADY CUT THE DIFFERENCES…SUCCESSFULLY WIND UP THE KNOT AND MEET AND KNEW NEW FACES IN THE INSTITUTE OF COMPUTING.
